Over the past 70 years HGM has played a major part in the development of Israel’s ground breaking water and wastewater infrastructure against a backdrop of perpetual water scarcity.

Founded in 1953, the firm has been a driving force in transforming Israel into a world leader in the field of water management, helping the country achieve over 80% utilization of effluent. Managed by Dr. Yair Folkman and Shmuel Bdolach, HGM has designed dozens of wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations and hundreds of projects all over the world.

Turning Bold Ideas Into Practical Reality

HGM’s founders and owners, Dr. Yair Folkman and Shmuel Bdolach, have built a successful partnership spanning over 35 years.
Both graduates of the world renowned Technion in Haifa, and leading authorities in their respective fields, their projects have contributed to the successful development of many cities in Israel and around the globe.

Together, Dr. Folkman and Shmuel Bdolach manage a firm of 25 engineers. Leading from example, they have built a culture of unstinting professionalism and unswerving commitment to excellence – at the leading edge of the latest technologies.

Dr. Yair Folkman PhD

Founder and owner

Dr. Yair Folkman has built his specialty in the field of planning wastewater treatment plants in Israel and abroad and has trained and educated many of the new generation of Israel’s water engineers.

Shmuel Bdolach B.Sc, M.Sc

Founder and owner

Shmuel Bdolach is an expert in engineering related to pumping stations, wet infrastructure, and is a world pioneer in the field of Hydrology and runoff harvesting.

Ziv Goren

CEO

Ziv has worked at HGM since 2007. His vigor, ambition and leadership have led him to manage HGM with depth and professionalism, on small and large issues alike, while constantly driving the company to reach new heights.

His projects include:

  • Light Rail Transit, Red, Green, Purple lines – Tel Aviv Metropolitan – Detailed design of water, sewers and drainage utilities.
  • Bahamas: Preparation of a sewage master plan
  • Projects for the Mey Sheva Corporation (Beer Sheva): Preparation of a master plan for sewage, the main sewer collector for the city with a diameter of 1200 mm, 9km of force main with a diameter of 710 mm.
  • Ir Habadim base in the south of Israel and the Negev Plateau: Planning of pumping stations, water tanks, 20 km long force main and water systems.
  • Ashdod Port: Water systems planning, water tank, sewage pumping stations and treatment of coal leachate, and carbon supernatant treatment.

Our engineers have expertise in a wide variety of fields, spanning hydraulics, civil engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering, hydrology, design and architecture. This allows us to offer clients an extensive range of tailored solutions.

Since 2009, Nadav’s extensive experience, professionalism and composure have placed him among the top professionals in the field.

Among the projects Nadav is developing are:

  • Upgrading and expanding the Ayalon wastewater treatment plant (81,000 m³/day) and the Ashkelon wastewater treatment plant (40,000 m³/day).
  • Final planning for the wastewater treatment plant in Bahia Blanca, Argentina (60,000 m³/day).
  • Early planning for three wastewater treatment plants in The Bahamas as part of the master plan.

Hagit Graif

and Electromechanics

Since 2002, Hagit’s long-standing service together with the vast experience she has acquired, have established her as a senior, experienced engineer in the firm.

Hagit handles many projects, including:

  • The Dead Sea master plan and detailed planning of wet utilities and pumping stations.
  • The Bahamas – master plan and detailed design
  • Ashkelon main pumping station on the shore with a capacity flow of 300 m³/hr.
  • The National Roads Company of Israel: Design of drainage systems on interurban roads. Drainage Pumping station at a flow of 5,400 m³/hr.
  • Ayalon Road Company – Drainage pumping station of 6,700 m³/hr.
  • The Authority for the Development and Settlement of the Bedouin in the Negev – City planning (including detailed design) in Kuseife, Arara and Abu Karinat.
  • The Caesarea Edmond Benjamin de Rothschild Corporation – Consulting and detailed planning for wastewater treatment in the business and industrial park, residential area, National Park and Old City

Oshrat Tzemah

Oshrat has served as a project manager at HGM since 2005, with many years of experience, deep engineering knowledge, excellent interpersonal skills and an uncompromising standard of planning.

Amongst other things, she handles the:

  • Nir Etzion plant (3D planning) with a flow rate of 32,000 m³/day per day.
  • Planning of the South Sharon treatment plant (with a flow rate of 63,000 m³/day).
  • Planning a treatment plant in Karpaz, Cyprus, and other treatment plants including; Baqa al-Gharbiya, Beit She’an, Ashkelon, and Dimona.
  • Oshrat is engaged in planning sewage pumping stations, such as the Marina pumping station in Herzliya and the Ir Yamim pumping station in Ashkelon, located at the foot of the beach.

Hagit Brav Tal

Since 2008, Hagit has established her credentials as a senior engineer at the firm and has greatly advanced the field of master plan planning, mainly in the areas of hydrology and surface runoff management.

Hagit is at the forefront of many notable projects, including:

  • Hydrological Planning for the Eastern Railroad of Israel.
  • Preparation of a master plan for sewage and hydrology systems in the Sde Dov complex in Tel Aviv, Southern Glilot.
  • Master plan for hydrology and sewage in Galil Yam, Herzliya – hydrological planning, regulation of streams and living areas.
  • Preparation of master plan for water and sewage pipes for the IDF in the Negev.

Jonathan Katz

Jonathan has worked at HGM since 2011 and has garnered appreciation for his deep understanding of engineering design and uncompromising precision.

Jonathan is involved in many projects, including:

  • Ir Hayain, Ashkelon- Water and sewage utilities for a neighborhood of 11,000 housing units.
  • Stream regulation of Nahal Hamama along a route of about 4 km, and construction of a municipal park (600 dunams).
  • G1, G2 Light Rail Transit: Relocation of water, sewage and drainage utilities of about 14 km of an urban route – Tel Aviv Metropolitan.
  • Ben Shemen neighborhood, Lod: Hydrological consulting and regulation of Gezer and Ayalon rivers (5 km), including regulation of river ponds.
